Enormously successful WOC2014 Tokyo
WOC2014 Tokyo – the combined meeting of the 34th World Ophthalmology Congress (WOC),the 29th Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO)and the118 Japanese Ophthalmological Society(JOS) was held in Tokyo International Forum and Imperial Hotel on 2nd to 6th April 2014.
WOC meeting held in Japan is over 36 years since it was held in Kyoto in 1978.
Almost 20,000 people from over 120 countries around the world attended the scientific sessions and meetings WOC 2014 Tokyo.
Over 120 world leaders will present lectures in 387 scientific sessions and 3,086 free papers from international delegates.
55% delegates come from abroad.
A special guest attendance at the Opening Ceremony of the WOC 2014 Tokyo was Crown Prince Naruhito.
Japan Ophthalmic Instruments Association (JOIA) has been allowed to organize the commercial exhibition in conjunction with the WOC 2014 Tokyo.
160 companies of ophthalmic medical equipment and related products include 100 foreign ones exhibit the latest products and technologies.
They have attracted the ophthalmologists from all over the world.
WOC2014 commercial exhibition Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held in exhibition hall of Tokyo International Forum on 2nd April 2014.
Attendance of ribbon cutting ceremony are Tetsuro Oshika, MD, PhD, the president of the WOC2014 Tokyo, Bruce Spivey, MD, MS, Med ,the president of the ICO, Tatsuro Ishibashi ,MD, PhD ,the president of the JOS, Makoto Araie, MD, PhD, the president of the APAO2014, Shigeru Takano MD, the vice president of WOC2014 ,the president of JOA, Fumio Shiraga,MD,PhD, the chairman of exhibition committee WOC2014 Tokyo
and Mr. Tsugitomo Takimoto the president of the Japan Ophthalmic Instruments Association (JOIA).
JOIA also exhibited the special photo exhibit “History of Japanese Ophthalmology ” and “The “Vision Van” contribute to eye care in case of emergency—the Great East Japan Earthquake & Tsunami and Typhoon No.30 (Yolanda) in Philippines case” in cooperation with the Ophthalmological society and association
